A parlour is not a venue.
It is a way of hosting.

The original parlour was a receiving room — a space curated for the pleasure of company, where the host was fully present and the guest felt genuinely welcomed. That idea is what St James Parlour is built on.

We started with a conviction that private event entertainment could be done with far more intention — that table game experiences, handled properly, could anchor an evening in a way that changed the quality of the entire occasion for every guest present.

Working initially with private clients and boutique venues across London and the South East, we refined our approach through direct experience: understanding which formats work for which occasions, how hosting style affects guest comfort, what makes a room feel managed rather than merely occupied.

Today we work with private clients, corporate hospitality teams, wedding couples and venue partners across the UK — each engagement receiving the same level of care and preparation that has always defined how we operate.

What we believe about
a well-hosted evening

A well-hosted evening is not the sum of its components — it is the quality of the experience between them. The moment a guest settles into a seat at a beautifully presented table, feels welcomed by a host who is genuinely attentive and begins to engage with something that has real social energy — that is the thing we are designing towards.

We believe that entertainment at a private event should feel earned rather than imposed. It should create moments that guests step into willingly, at their own pace, and leave feeling that the time spent was genuinely worthwhile — not simply that an activity was provided.

That requires more than good equipment and a knowledge of the rules. It requires hosts who understand social pacing — who know when to lean in and when to let the table find its own rhythm. It requires a room that has been considered rather than simply occupied. And it requires a client relationship that is built on clear communication, honest recommendation and genuine follow-through.

Our Team

The people who make it work

Our hosting team is selected for three things above all: social intelligence, genuine warmth and the ability to read a room. Technical knowledge of the table games we offer is important — but it comes second to the human qualities that determine whether a guest leaves an evening feeling genuinely well hosted.

Table Hosts

Trained in all four table formats, our hosts are experienced in managing mixed-experience groups, welcoming new players mid-session and keeping the energy of a table consistent across a long evening. They dress smartly, speak clearly and never make a guest feel out of their depth.

Event Leads

Present on every Signature Evening and St James Collection engagement, our event leads oversee the whole evening — managing timing across tables, coordinating with venue staff and acting as the single point of contact for the host client throughout the event.

Event Directors

For our St James Collection clients, a senior event director takes personal responsibility for the event from planning stage to close. They are present throughout, understand the specific requirements of the occasion and ensure the standard of the evening reflects the standard of the package.

If a different package would serve your occasion better than the one you enquired about, we will say so. Our interest is in delivering the right evening — not the most expensive one.

We set up independently

We arrive early, set up completely without requiring anything from the host or venue staff and ensure the tables are ready well before the first guests arrive. The morning of your event is not for managing us.

We adapt to the evening

No two events run to a script. Our hosts are trained to read the room and respond to what the evening actually needs — not to follow a rigid format regardless of the guests in front of them.

We communicate clearly

Enquiries are responded to within one working day. Proposals are clear, honest and detailed. Questions are answered directly. There is no vague process or unnecessary friction in working with us.

We respect the occasion

We are always present at an event as a supporting element of the occasion — not as the main attraction. Our role is to enhance the evening its host has worked hard to create.

We follow through

After an event we check in, gather feedback and act on anything that could be improved. Long-term client relationships are built on consistent delivery — not on a single well-received evening.
